Data from Hole U1301B are broadly consistent with the global data set, but single-hole packer results suggest higher permeability than does the cross-hole response. This is surprising because testing of large rock volumes tends to result in higher permeability estimates. Also shown is the range of values generally determined on the basis of idealized crustal response to tidal loading and seismic events and using numerical models of coupled fluid and heat flow.
