Note the flat-lying seismic reflections of the hemipelagic section overlying an angular unconformity formed at the time the Lomonosov Ridge rifted from the continental margin of Eurasia. Arrows at the edge of the ridge indicate a level at which erosion of the section is evident in the seismic record. B. Seismic reflection data taken during Expedition 302. The higher frequency of these data shows anastomosing reflectors just above the reflection, representing the top of the Eocene organic-rich sediments.
