X-ray diffraction spectrum of bulk rock with peaks for montmorillonite, saponite (replacing the olivine phenocryst), calcite (present as vein in the rock), anorthite, and sanidine (likely as an alteration product of plagioclase microliths), Hole U1349A (Sample 324-U1349A-7R-3, 111–113 cm). Two end-member saponites (4MgO2[Al2O3]11[SiO2]·15.5[H2O]) are shown with slightly different crystal structures.
