Dikes from below Gabbro 2 (Expedition 335 cores and junk basket rocks) are less altered by hydrous post-contact metamorphism than dikes from above Gabbro 1 (Expedition 312 dikes). Degrees of recrystallization are based on thin section observations, using the relative scale of Teagle, Alt, Umino, Miyashita, Banerjee, Wilson, and the Expedition 309/312 Scientists (2006) (see Fig. F12 in the “Methods” chapter [Expedition 335 Scientists, 2012b]).
