The first auxiliary measurement is taken on flat-lying split core surface and consists of measuring the bearing (α1) and the plunge angle (β1) of the trace of the plane on the split surface. The second auxiliary measurement is taken on a surface perpendicular to the flat-lying split core surface and containing the core axis. It consists of measuring the bearing (α2) and the plunge angle (β2) of the trace of the plane on the surface.
