Figure F18. Photomicrographs of mineral grains in smear slides. The smear slides show relatively similar compositions; identified minerals include quartz and detrital carbonate, which are common. Biogenic carbonate (foraminiferal fragments and nannofossils) and feldspar, mica, dolomite, hypersthene, hornblende, glauconite, and zircon are present to rare. Pyrite is also observed. A.
