Following ranking by the IODP Scientific Advisory Structure, the expedition was scheduled by the IODP Operations Committee for the research vessel JOIDES Resolution, operating under contract with the U.S. Implementing Organization (USIO). The expedition is currently scheduled to begin in Balboa, Panama, on 24 August 2005, departing after a 4 day port call (or when ready). The science party is scheduled to board the ship on 10 September 2005 during a 1 day port call in Astoria, Oregon (USA). The expedition officially concludes in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada) on 7 October 2005 (for the current detailed schedule, see iodp.tamu.edu/scienceops/). A total of 22 days will be available for the drilling, coring, and downhole measurements described in this report.
