Four major low-resolution depositional sequences have been recognized in the Pliocene and Quaternary sedimentary record (Llave et al., 2001; Hernández-Molina et al., 2002, 2006) and are separated by four relevant discontinuities: M (late Messinian), QBD (base of the Quaternary?) and MPR (mid-Pleistocene?). LPR erosive discontinuity could represent the onset of drift formation. TWT = two-way traveltime.
