Figure F57. Determination of perfluorocarbon (PFC) detection limit, Expedition 337. PFC in headspace was detected in 182 out of 222 core samples. PFC amounts below 8 × 10–12 g (8 pg) within the volume of headspace gas injected (0.5 cm3) were not detectable. Thus, we estimated the detection limit of the GC-ECD, indicated by the dashed line, to be 8 × 10–12 g (8 pg).
