To unlatch the drill string, pressure is first raised to between 1000 and 1500 psi, and pressure is then reduced. We interpret that the first two attempts were unsuccessful because the standpipe pressure was not reduced enough. During the last pressurization, the standpipe pressure was adequately reduced, which allowed the spring within the MDHDS to expand. Letters correspond to Table T11.
