Differential deposition and moats around the seamounts were caused by seafloor currents and are responsible for seafloor outcrops and irregular thicknesses in seismic sequences for Reflections A, A–B, and B–C, the lowest of which may be as old as Eocene. The location of Reflection A is difficult to discern in this 1972 SCS line.
