Schedule for Expedition 317 (Canterbury Basin)

Expedition 317 to the Canterbury Basin on the eastern margin of the South Island of New Zealand is derived from the original Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) drilling Proposal 600, including addendums 600-I and 600-II (available at iodp.tamu.edu/scienceops/expeditions/canterbury_basin.html). Following ranking by the IODP Scientific Advisory Structure, the expedition was scheduled for the research vessel R/V JOIDES Resolution, operating under contract with the U.S. Implementing Organization (USIO). At the time of publication of this Scientific Prospectus, the expedition is scheduled to start in Townsville, Australia on 4 November 2009 and end in Wellington, New Zealand on 4 January 2010. A total of 45.2 days will be available for the drilling, coring, and downhole measurements described in this report (for the current detailed schedule, see iodp.tamu.edu/scienceops/).
