Schedule for Expedition 344

Expedition 344 is based partly on Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) drilling proposal 537A-Full5 (Costa Rica Seismogenesis Project [CRISP] Program A; available at iodp.tamu.edu/scienceops/expeditions/costa_rica_seismogenesis.html) and Expedition 334 (Expedition 334 Scientists, 2011). Following ranking by the IODP Scientific Advisory Structure, Expedition 344 was scheduled for the research vessel R/V JOIDES Resolution, operating under contract with the US Implementing Organization (USIO). At the time of publication of this Scientific Prospectus, the expedition is scheduled to start in Balboa, Panama, on 23 October 2012 and to end in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, on 11 December 2012. A total of 49 days will be available for the drilling, coring, and downhole measurements described in this report (for the current detailed schedule, see iodp.tamu.edu/scienceops/). Further details about the facilities aboard the JOIDES Resolution and the USIO can be found at www.iodp-usio.org/.
