Objective(s):
This site is an alternate to Site NWS-3A. This site presents an opportunity to document the variation of ITF connectivity. It is also along strike from several drowned reefs. As a result, coring may allow the reflectors that pass beneath these reefs to be dated and therefore, by proxy, date reef onset. This site may also yield an interglacial Pliocene–Pleistocene record of the Australian monsoon and a detailed paleobathymetry and subsidence history.
Drilling program:
Triple APC, double XCB followed by RCB to total depth
Logging program or downhole measurements program:
Triple combo, FMS, VSP
Nature of rock anticipated:
Calcilutites, calcarenites
